Hey guys...

On this issue of DUS; my buddy's project I must say I am blown away.. Rick is doing a 1:48 Denver Union Station that we may also have built for our layout at Denver Union Station in 2014!

A possible plan at the Midland Route club layout in the basement is to add this model to the west end of the railroad for a semi-24 hour exhibit viewable by the hotel guests wandering the property when we are not open. A possible educational exhibit and historical attraction a 1940's 1950's era 1:48 DUS is a must in the basement of DUS.

I drew up this concept drawing of the layout addition for the developer/architect last Fall showing the DUS terminal as it was in the 1940's and 1950's with an operating Denver trolly by way of outside button.

On the outside wall its possible to replicate a Leadville depot entrance with railcar windows acting as windows into the world of the Midland Route Model Railroad and DUS exhibit.

Rick says: "I am going to take that LiDar Point Cloud data CU did in June 2012 and have a rapid prototype printed up of the layout in the basement of my 1:48 scale model DUS!"

This certainly is not the only scale DUS, a recently featured layout in Great Model Railroads built a DUS in 1:87. Don Meeker a friend of the community and huge talent built this beautiful model.

Thanks for the votes of confidence guys!

Actually most of the credit goes to Custom Model Railroads (CMR)

Jeff Springer.  He had a great HO compressed kit we could use as

baseline tooling for the O Scale version pictured.  Alot of research in on around and through the real beauty of a structure, and massive amounts of detailed

decompression (the opposite of the plague called selective compression)

later and you get this scaled model.  It will be the Signature feature on my

O Scale Colorado Jointline Layout that continues to grow.  It will

provide a beauty of a backdrop for my line of modern O Scale coal cars

(both Steel Fleet and Aluminum Gons and Hoppers).  I will post more

as the real construction starts.  Lov'en O Scale and Lov'en this Forum!

Cheers,
