Here are a couple of photos of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad locomotive #21, the "JW Bowker."  The V&T train was in San Francisco!  The first pic was taken in front of the Ferry Building.  The second pic was taken behind the Maritime Museum near Aquatic Park and Fisherman's Wharf.  The photos were taken in 1951.  They are from the Martin E. Hansen Collection.  Matt

The entire Pacific Coast Chapter of the RLHS collection was to placed in a museum to be built in the Haslett warehouse, about two blocks from fisherman's wharf.  This was to be part of the San Francisco Maritime Museum.  The two groups got into a disagreement and the collection ended up going to Sacramento.  It was the core collection that formed the basis for the California State Railroad Museum.
