I'm building a almost deserted town on my new layout. Many of the building I got from Randy at Downtown Deco. He was selling off many old broken building parts. Just what I needed. But what I didn't have was bad sidewalks. Well, Randy is just introducing a new like of sidewalks. He calls them "the worst sidewalks you've ever seen", and they are. Just the thing for my town. All you have to do is add a little diluted India Ink and presto, "the worst sidewalks you've ever seen" Nice job Randy! Thanks. Don

WOW! Those are best looking " worst sidewalks" I've ever seen. Nice job. Now we need some broken & boarded up window inserts.
Deserted town? heck most of the sidewalks in 'active' cities today look like that.

We have sidewalk inspectors on Baltimore City that issue citations for each broken block to the tune of $500.00 ea. If you don't repair them yourself with 90 days the city will do for $500.00 per block. Once they get enough violations in a neighborhood they hire the cheapest contractor to replace the blocks. Most of the guys doing the actual work don't speak English and I'll just leave it there.
Wish they'd fix the sidewalks in my neck of central/Western MD. Some of them are pushed up 12-14" above the grade by tree roots, etc. Walking on them with kids and a stroller is an exercise in attentiveness!
Randy's kits are among the most realistic, easy to build and fun in the hobby, IMO. his instructions are first-rate as are his methods for weathering hydrocal. the results you get are unlike any other material, yet blend in well with wood and resin structures. if you haven't tried one of Randy's kits, give it a try and you'll be really surprised with the results -- even if you break a casting along the way since randy will replace it free of charge. what more could a modeler ask for?

The sidewalks look realistically bad. The curbs however seem to be in good shape. In my experience the curbs are typicaly in worse shape than the walks. Pat B.
That's an easy fix. Just chip them. Randy has been selling bundles of old broken walls, and other parts on E-bay. I got two orders of them. I'm weathering the parts now. They look great. It's a super fun project. Don
