I received a call from the county sheriff this morning after explaining i had a pretty good alibi for the last 24 hours he told me about a theft. I was told about 15,000 dollars worth of antique trains and a trailer were stolen in Ogden UT on 11/9. I was told it was from Electric Norman who is a west coast parts supplier. Kind of  surprising since I hadn't seen Norman around for several years and thought he had shut down

Anyway if anyone sees any of his parts for sale you may want to let the Ogden UT police department know. The sheriff is going to try to get me more details

Please keep us posted on this. We thought Electric Norman had retired from long road trips.

A train repair friend has bought lots of parts from Electric Norm, and we helped Norm pack up his trailer after a train show in Eugene last year. It was ingenious how he shoehorned all his supplies and parts display cabinets into that trailer. What a huge loss to lose it all ...

Here is a little bit more about the theft. No new details, I would thing that whoever stole it is not wondering what they stole and what to do with it. I too had thought Norman had quit the show circuit. Oh the total price is now estimated to be $80,000

Were you the first one he called?     WHY???

Because I keep calling harassing him whenever he makes local new.. something about him being a publicity hound (he's a good friend and the PR guy for the sheriff office)

This is certainly a sad commentary on the state of society today. If Norm wanted to keep his trains safer; alarms, GPS tracking devices, steel tire boots and the like could have prevented this. The choice of Motel 6 also has to come into question. You don't exactly get an upscale audience at those places but admittedly a theft can happen anywhere.

Many of the four star hotels offer 24 hr security and some use video surveilance of the lobbies and parking areas. If I were transporting $80K worth of trains, I would definitly employ anti-theft measures. We can only hope that the thieves are apprehended and that Norm gets his trains back
