In order to make sure that I didn't miss anything, I often read from the "Recent Posts" or "All Topics" views.

I've often thought that it would be a nice visual aid if some, or all the forums had theme colors to differentiate their posts in this contextual view.  I.e., posts in the For Sale and Want to Buy forums could be shaded green, Layout construction could be brown, Traditional O could be orange, etc.  That way I know what I'm reading and responding to.

You could also possibly add a flag where Forum readers could alert the moderator if they think a post was started in the wrong Forum, or if the discussion veers in a direction that would make the thread better placed in a different Forum.

Disclaimer: I've never been an admin, and I'm not sure if it's even possible to implement these suggestions.  Just putting some ideas out there for consideration.

I don’t know if this I possible, but I’ll look into it.

Already there, and has been from day one. It’s called “Report Reply”.

Some of us are colorblind.

In the Recent Posts area, how could the topic areas be differentiated to make it usable for you?  Maybe roll the curser over the topic title and it shows which forum?

I personally think what the OP suggests would be great.  This would help keep me from embarrassing myself by clicking on a Recent Posts topic thinking it is a 3R-traditional forum issue when in fact it was in the 2RS forum.

I took a look at this to see if forum color-coding could be done. The answer is,"Yes, but... "

All of the colors, page layouts, and fonts used in this forum are contained within a "Theme" file. It is a huge data file containing several hundred setup, page, color, font, menu, and display parameters. In order to change the colors on an individual forum, I would have to make a new theme file for that forum, change the color setups, and set just that forum to use the new theme. I would have to do that for every forum here! It would be a monumental task and it would make the back-end administration of the forums a nightmare.

So while the answer to the OP's question is technically "Yes", the design time it would take to make it happen, and the on-going problems it would create for us in the back-end, make it one of those projects where the end doesn't justify the means.

I'm sorry.

I like the idea of the recent posts having the sub-forum name, that would keep me out of trouble at times.

I'm in on this, also. If that change isn't possible, then a sticky header on the forum page. Clicking on the recent post takes you to the last reply, and you have to scroll to the top of the page to see what forum you're reading the post in.
