I lost a hero back in June 2017. My Uncle Albert passed away at the age of 98. A co-pilot on a B24 Liberator, was shot down in 1944 and listed as KIA. Late in the war General Patton's tanks overran his Staling, and liberated him. Despite what others thought of Gen Patton, Uncle Albert always had the highest regard for him.

His name appears on the Va. War Memorial as KIA. For 20 months he was a prisoner of the Luftwaffe. They did not report their POWs to the Red Cross. My father was his youngest brother. Uncle Albert always seemed bigger than life to me.

After completing a distinguished career in the Air Force, Uncle Albert had his civilian career with Anheuser Busch. Today at the Great Big Greenhouse, I ran all of my Bud cars in a consist in his honor.

Uncle Albert, this Bud's for YOU
