I just received mine yesterday. Over all i like this little engine it has log cars behind it. The thing i was let down on was no chipo for the remote. I programed it the best that i could. Over all the engine is a great addtion to my train layout whats everyone elses thoughts

I love it. I think the whistle steam is fantastic and I love the stack smoke with the grate.
It is pretty impressive that the engine keeps alive even though it only has two pickup rollers. They are really spread apart so that probably helps.
I'm not worried about the orange programming module. It's easy to enter the information in on a Cab2. Frankly I never really understood why they include them. I have the sensor track too so that programs things in.
If you call Lionel I am sure they will send you a chip. I had a chance to purchase the older TMCC version but opted for the 3 truck shay. The sound on the shay was just out of this world.
Have fun with you new Heisler. Does anyone have a short video of it?
Isn't this a three truck Heisler, as Lionel produced before? Too bad K-Line isn't here to do a small two truck Heisler like most logging roads operated. I just read an article on the Towle Logging Co. in Calif. that operated a fleet of tiny Porter 0-4-0T's. Very few railroads actually operated Big Boys.
what grate are you talking about dave? Is the one inside the smoke stack?
A camera to take photos of the new Lionel loco.....I can't spend that $$$ right now but would love to see others locos.
I was saying modern layouts can still have steam!! thx
I'll get mine this week. I'm sad to hear that there isn't an orange module with it, they're suppose to have the motor speed curve so you can MU them correctly. I guess Lionel really want you to use the sensor track to program the base with.

You don't need the orange module for the engine to be capable of being in a lash-up. All the orange module does is enter the information into the Cab2 (i.e. the road name, number, sets it as Legacy, etc). All that can be done manually within the matter of two minutes.

If you look at the picture above your post, you can see the screen on top of the main stack. Lionel's model has that screen and it is hinged so that you can open it to add smoke fluid.
Here is video of the real thing from mid July in Durbin, WV
Wow...I didn't know Cass RR #6 was in Durbin now.....thx
