A couple of Forum members have asked me about the painting process for our shadowboxes. The pictures below give an idea of the steps that we take to paint them. We start with individually laser scored and cut elevation fronts. The portion that is going to wind up with as concrete bands is primed, painted and masked out. Then the additional laser scored and cut columns and facia pieces are added. Note that multiple-piece shadowbox sets have columns that overlap/hide the joint lines. The elevation front is then primed in its entirety, painted brick base color and then textured. Finally, the masking for the concrete bands is removed. Now we have finished painted elevation fronts- ready for assembly. The pictures are part of a 4-piece set of the 4-story trackside warehouse with loading dock that will ship out on Monday. At that time 1-, 2- and 3-piece sets will be put in the store. Price: $100.00 per 12" long section, complete with individual floors and ceilings.
