I posted this on the tin-plate forum but didn't get any solid answers.  Hoping with more readers on this forum that I can get some help.  I should have added: I run O27 profile track.  I want an '0' gauge size train, not standard gauge (if that's the correct term).

Thanks - walt

Here's what I asked:

I am in the process of selling all of my train inventory wanting to replace it with two MODERN tin-plate trains with PS2 or PS3.  BUT....

I need to know if there are tin-plate engines/rolling stock that can handle 27" curves.  While I have a lot of bigger curves and 10 of the 42" switches, I have way more 27" curves and 20 27" switches.

thanks - walt+

 Walt,

My Lionel/MTH 262E (11-6023-1) with PS3 works!..I took out the O-27 Micro-Christmas tree loop and it runs fine.

Loco/tender is attached to an 800 series car, also new Lionel/MTH

... just a bit of overhang on the curves!

I'm getting into the tinplate side of things too.  The Girls' Set, Celebration Set and Christmas Set caught my eye!  Planning on a 4.2' x 9' layout with grey carpet.  Hopefully I'll start on it before you post your next Christmas Layout!

Alan: yes, I agree with that but I was HOPING that at least  few people might help me out by doing what Ed was kind enough to do.

Thanks Ed, you are the only person that has actual hands-on that answered, so it's very appreciated.  Maybe your experiment will prompt a few others to try.

I asked my local hobby store if I could bring some curves to his shop and try - not actually under electrical power but just hand-operating it by slightly lifting the engine so that it didn't drag and then just seeing if it will handle 27".  a big fat 'No, I can't let you do that'.

thanks - walt
