Does anyone know of a source for the tinplate car body inserts ( a one piece door, window, name, seats stamping) for my Lionel 608 Observation (c. 1931) 7 inches?
Who is good for all those little parts that you always seem to be missing one of? Is there a way to get a catalog number for some of them?

Body parts are currently not made. Your bet bet is to find a junker and salvage the necessary parts from it.

Body parts for Tinplate cars do show up on ebay.
Set up a search for the car you want and maybe someone will be selling one soon.
I have found many oddball parts this way.
Don't pay more than a complete car would cost.
You might want to send George Tebolt an email on this, he handles pre war...
