Tinplate Christmas Train Drawbar trouble

Hi Steve. I have a PS3 262e...same drawbar setup.

I noticed there's a pin that pops up after pushing the drawbar plug into the receptical on the loco. I found that by tilting the tender at 45 degress I could then get the plug into the receptical. As it went in, that pin would get pushed down too. Then, I'd gently bring the tender back down level with the loco. Once it was plugged in...I'd give it a bit more gentle nudge and then I'd see the little pin pop up. Perhaps that pin is not popping up thus to disconnect after a few curves.

I'm talking about the other end. on the engine. There is a wire from the engine that plugs into the drawbar under the engine that is coming out when it goes around the curves. Inside the engine on the back is a black cover that hides the plug. It will not stay in.

See if you can add slack to that wire. Try pulling it out a little bit.

The wire does not have much slack. I'm going to take it in for service again.

Seams like I got the one with the problems. Quality control is not very good any more.

They may have to open it up to add slack. Sometimes the wire is knotted to catch on a stop so it does not pull out completly.

I think that may be the trouble. I took it back to the dealer today. I hope it can be fixed before Christmas. Sometimes it takes time.
