I got what appears to be a slightly used, but otherwise good, Union Pacific "mail car" today.
It seems a bit finicky, the mechanism seems to have a hair trigger in some aspects, but also seems to drag enough that if you aren't careful, you won't get the package to kick out the door and the little man in the car is left holding it.
It looks like the spring is riveted in place. The mechanism is dusty and I am wondering if I put some silicone lube in there to lube it if it would be fast enough to strip the package from his hands.
Not sure how to fix the hair trigger - it sometimes requires "Setting" it two or three times before you do it correctly and the thing doesn't snap out on you when you place it on the track.
