I have three TIU's all defined as supper TIU's...  all has been well for a year until yesterday.  TIU1 is connected to two freight mainline's.  TIU2 is connected to two passenger line's.  TIU3 is connectd to the mainline that feeds the Round House and freight yards (20 + sidings all powered off until used).  While running trains on all five mainlines DCS lost track of the two trains on the two frieght mainlines (TIU1).  I found TIU1 had an amber light on instead of it's normal RED.  I powered down all three TIU's (I normally leave all three TIU's poweved up all of the time (external power).  When I powerd back up the AMBER light cleared but the problem is still there.  I turn on the Z....   crank to 18 V's and both engines power up on there own as if "started" but will not respond to any commands (engine not found).   Reading the DCS bible (Companion) is appears there are a cazillion things I might try.  Any and all suggestions (priorities) on how to further trouble shoot this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Rick,

One well-known culprit is if the wires between the TIU channel output and the tracks were swapped. This would cause the symptoms that you're seeing. Check this first.

If that's not the problem, swap the TIU's channel's outputs with one of the other TIUs. If the problem moves to the swapped tracks, the TIU is the issue. If the problem remains with the original tracks, the TIU is not the problem.

If the TIU is the issue, check each channel individually.

No to swapped wires...   I haven't touched them in over a year....   I swapped both outputs of TIU1 to other tracks (passenger - disconnested TIU 2 from pass and attached TIU1 outputs to pass)...  both passenger trains reacted the same as my freight trains...   both went into start up as soon as power was supplied to the  track and DCS can not find those engines.  Then tested each channel separately...   same problem... so does this mean I have a TIU gone bad?

and Thank you Berry very much for helping

nope..   didn't work...  I cringe on how long it will take to get a TIU fixed...  I'll go thru my hobby shop of choice (JR JUNCTION in Syracuse NY...  highly recommended)...  they fix stuff but I'm not sure they'll want to tackle a TIU....   anyway...  my brother just called and suggested I send this off to get fixed but buy a new TIU.  A) I'm back up and running in a few days; B) if/when the old TIU is fixed I'll have a back up.

Thank you again for your help
