I'm helping my son build a small layout for my grand children. I want to power the TIU with an auxiliary power supply. The one I have is from Radio Shack which has ceased to exist and I looked at various sites but could not seem to find one. I may be misreading the specifications so any help would be appreciated.

Any power supply (including an AC train transformer or brick) that is capable of supplying 12-22 ACV at 1 1/2 amps or greater will work. It also needs the correct barrel plug.
There should be some available on the web/bay.
Any supply from 12 to 20 volts AC or DC with at least 1.5 amps of capacity is fine. I frequently use cast off laptop power bricks, lots of power, free to me, and right in the voltage range.
You can get reasonable bang-for-the-buck with 12V DC, 2 Amp adapters used for LED lighting strips. They have the correct plug (5.5mm/2.1mm OD/ID coax-barrel) for the TIU. Here are examples from eBay and Amazon with US shipping. You can save a buck or two if willing to wait for shipping from Asia.

If you like the one that you have from Radio Shack, check their web site. They may still carry it.
