Hi everyone, I have a small irritation and I know that the Forum will get rid of it. I currently have two Z4000 and one TIU. Z#1 is wired to the 2 fixed positions on the TIU. Z#2 is wired to the 2 variable positions on the TIU. Z#1 runs loop #1 and loop #2 depending on which handle you are using. Z#2 runs loop #3 and loop #4 depending on which handle you are using. If I want to run either loop #3 or loop #4 I need to power up Z#2 plus Z#1 and put about 5W on loop #2 in order to get loop #3 or #4 to work. I know why this is required, it's because of the TIU needing the imput from Z#1. Would buying another TIU and wire it to Z#2 solve this problem? Is there another less costly way to do it? I definitely am looking for the easiest (Not necessarily the cheapest way) of doing this. I thank all who respond in advance.

I believe the simplest solution is a small wall wart power supply from Radio Shack to power your TIU thru its small power jack. You may need to bring it into the store to match the plug size, I can't recall the voltage/amperage requirement, but I'm sure that someone else will comment.

A 12 to 18 volt AC or DC supply with at least 1.5 amps will power the TIU. Personally, I've used old Laptop power supplies, I've found several in my junkbox that have the right plug. You can also use a Z500/750/1000 brick if you have one, they have the correct size barrel jack.
That was also going to be my suggestion, as the other posters have said. I use a Z500 from an MTH set for the aux power to my TIU.
From another thread. Radio Shack Enercell wall wart.
Another source of power for the TIU's Aux. Power port is the Radio Shack "#273-331 "Enercell™ Switchable 18/24VAC 1 AMP Power Adapter with #273-344 Enercell™ Adaptaplug™ M. It should be used (only) on the 18 volt setting.
Thanks everyone! I know I have an extra MTH brick laying around. Correct me if I am wrong: First, disconnect power supply to TIU. Plug in brick to TIU and power up brick. All done?
Paul, with the 120-volt power to the layout off, plug the wallwart or brick output into the AUX port. Reason I say have the 120 off is to avoid any surges; I wouldn't expect any, but who knows for certain?
Paul,

You still need an input into Fixed #1 to operate trains on that channel. All the brick does is power the TIU itself.
Barry, the two fixed inputs and the two variable inputs are wired already. The two fixed from #1 Z4000 and the two variable inputs from #2 Z4000. You helped me set up the two variables to act as fixed.
