This is my first post on the forum so I hope I'm in the right spot.I currently have a layout which is running Lionel TMCC. The layout has 7 MTH switches and the switches are wired through the origional ASC 3000 which is now sold by Lionel under ASC300. I have a TPC 3000 controlling track power. I have a couple of new MTH proto 3.0 engines and am considering the MTH DCS system to run both Lionel TMCC and MTH engines. I have read a ton of tuff and feel confident that MTH DCS will do the job of running both type of engines. However I cannot find any information on line that gives me a definitive answer if my current switch setup would work using DCS system. My current guess based on what I read is it would not. I realize I could by a MTH AIU to replace what I have but that's a big expense and what I have is working really well. Thanks

I was not aware that the TPC could be set as an engine. But after rereading the setup procedure I seen that it can. Unfortunately not having the  DSC system I am having a hard time envisioning the process. Based on George's reply it seems it might be easier to use the lionel remote. This however raises the question of how I wire in the MTH TIU. Would I put it between the Track out of the TPC and the fixed in of the MTH TIU
and then run power to track for the Fixed out of the MTH TIU? So then I can address both Lionel and MTH engines from the DCS remote and use the TMCC remote to control the switches. I'm hopeing the answer is yes. Thanks again

There is a cable (MTH 50-1032) that connects the TMCC base to the TIU.  List price is about $25.  You connect the TIU to the track and the TMCC base to the TIU with the above cable.  I've done this to run TMCC engines and it works great.

George's point though is valid.  Some things are just easier to accomplish if you use a different remote.

Barry's DCS  Companion is really good at explaining how to connect all the various components for different scenarios.  It made me think about things I hadn't even considered and that has saved me a ton of time.

I do appreciate the replys in helping me try to understand how I  can continue to use the ASC3000 switch controller while having the DCS system control both TMCC and MTH locos. However the ASC requires a connection to TMCC command base in order to communicate commands to the switches. So when you connect the MTH 50-1032 cable it seems to me I no longer can make those two connections. Any suggestions on how I can do that would be greatly appreciated. I could very easily be missing something here. Thanks

You'll need to acquire a DB9 splitter with 1 male and 2 female ports. They're available from Amazon and other suppliers for a few dollars.
