I purchased a K-line NYC mikado steamer.  At first, the unit smoked a lot but has now stopped.  I figured the wick and heating element had burned out so I replaced those but still no smoke.  I checked the voltage going to the smoke unit but none was detected.  The smoke switch is on.  I removed the ground wire from the smoke unit and placed 18 volts AC directly on the smoke unit and it began to smoke like a new one.  I'm guessing that a circuit board that controls the smoke stopped supplying the voltage needed for the smoke unit.  Everything else is working like a champ with nothing else wrong.  Can someone tell me which board controls the smoke unit and where can i acquire another one?

Thank You!

The DCDR has nothing to do with the smoke, and even pulling it out of the locomotive would not affect smoke production.  If you still don't have voltage at the smoke unit, trace the wiring, top suspect is the smoke switch.

The other possibility is a short in the smoke wiring to frame ground, that would take out the new smoke triac on the spot.
