Hello all,

I have a few units on a 'bad order' list

Everything is being run via TMCC/CAB-1, all had factory feature (8) reset done. All have had the R2LC removed and reseated.

I have a Erie Lackawanna U33C (6-28207) all features work including engine RPMs ramp up but will not move, from the red dial or the boost button. It was working for about 30 minutes then no movement.

Union Pacific H16-44 (6-28838) Once again, all features work including sound and RPM ramping, but no movement. This engine was this way since purchase, at one point I did try it and it worked for about 5 minutes then back to a stationary state.

New Haven RS11 (from set 6-31905) this unit moves fine, but no sound, I swapped in a known good sound board and nothing a feature reset fixed a wonky lighting issue.

Thanks for any help getting these engines back on the road!

Unfortunately the motor control board is about 100 bills, so I would swap a known good one and see if that resolves your issue.

Also check to see the gears are not binding in the trucks.

Are you getting a flashing light? you may have in inadvertently set the stall setting... and its looking for the completion of the setting.

Motor drivers or wiring, pull plugs and reseat.  Could have cold solder joints at terminal or motor tabs.  For sound check speaker, pot, RS power supply board too.  G

G, I had not tried to swap a motor driver board. Is there a generic one I can buy (IE Lionels sale days) that I could use for multiple locomotives or are they specific?

Regarding the Railsounds; Just swap parts from a like unit to rule things out?

J, The wheels/trucks spin fine from rotating the flywheels. I even tried via the BOOST button and no movement.

Thanks!

Mike helped me out on similar thread...:

Use this one; 691DCDSYU1 (the "U" stands for Universal, which means it works well with Pittman and Mabuchi motors. The P in 691DCDSFP6 is for "Pittman". The M in 691DCDSHM5 is for Mabuchi. The 691DCDSYU1 works for both motor types and will resolve your issue entirely.

By the way - check to make sure you DO NOT have the engine set on LEGACY when running your TMCC engines... they will just sit there and smile at you!

Just a quick question trying to help troubleshoot based on the original post:

Did these all start the bad behavior around the same time?

If so, and since they all seem to exhibit the same symptoms, perhaps we're overlooking the basics first as in signal issues from the command or legacy base?

Just spitballing here.

J, Thank you for the info on the motor board.

PS- I only use a command base/Cab-1, I don't have a Legacy setup.

EscapeRocks, they all failed at different points in time. The H16 was DOA, the RS11 has about 4 hours of run time and the U33 got about 30 min of run time.
