I have had DCS on my layout for 16 years. 3 years ago I added a Cab1 and command base. I use my DCS controller to control my TMCC locomotives with no problems or issues. Last week I tried to replace my Cab1 with a Cab1L and Legacy command base but I can’t get it to work with my DCS controller...is the early Legacy set up not compatible with the DCS system ?  Or am I doing something wrong ?

Are you sure the new Cab1L and Legacy base are working correctly ?

You might want to first try disconnecting the DCS system and just using the Cab1L and Legacy base with a Legacy engine and make sure that system is functioning correctly on its own and, if so, then add the TIU and DCS system into the equation.

You might also want to check out the DCS Companion book to make sure all your connections are correct.

You don't have the cable backwards do you?

What do you think I’m stupid or something ???

Well the answer is YES ! your right I am LMAO!!!

Thanks so much Lou after working a double shift last night (in order to have today off) I wasn’t paying attention at 12:30 this morning and did indeed wire it backwards !

Everything works great now !

Also thanks to PENN PACIFIC for pointing me in the right direction with the cable to begin with !

and RICHIE C thanks also ...I should invest in the DCS companion !

TAYCOTRAINS,

I feel better now.

I could not get TMCC to work through DCS initially when I finally got my childhood layout working back in 2017 (I have it working fine on both of my portable setups).  I gave up for a while.

I got ready to swap out TIU's and Command bases, but thought I should look at the cable to make sure that I connected it correctly.

IT WAS BACKWARDS!  It worked fine once I re-installed the cable correctly.

The sad thing is, it was clearly labeled from the factory.

I feel better now that someone else did it too!

I'm glad you figured it out. I had to be something simple.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who runs both DCS and TMCC locomotives from the same DCS remote. I find it much easier than carrying the DCS remote and a CAB-1 around when I'm running a PS2 and and a TMCC locomotive at the same time. Plus I like that the DCS remote is lighter, smaller, and doesn't have that goofy whip antenna.

Totally agree !

I only run my TMCC locomotives with the DCS remote...I only use the Cab1 to run a Lionel TMCC crane.

Thanks again
