using TMC; however, If I want to use one, is it okay to use a standard 9V battery or do
I really need the designated one that is a little less than 9V???--- 8.6V+- !!! K-line made
approx 100 sets of the Piedmont Passenger Line of which our extended family has owned three sets.
I purchased the three sets, kept one, and two family members took one each. Now, we have inherited one back and I found the battery had never been installed even though that owner had never operated the Piedmont set with TMCC.
There is some good history as to why and how the Piedmont Sets were made - originating with the K-Line Rep, my wife and I all volunteering with 150 others for five years on our daily Piedmont Runs to/from Charlotte and Raleigh. The Rep. lived in the Carrboro, NC area and worked with K-line until it closed shop in the Carrboro- Chapel Hill towns.
