On my permenent layout with both Legacy and DCS systems, my previosly responsive TMCC engines no longer resond to either system. They just sit on the track with their lights on with repetitive mild engine sounds. However, these same engines run fine in traditional manual mode when placed on another layout. My legacy and MTH engines continue to run well on my permenent layout. What's the diagnosis and how do I fix this problem. Thanks guys.

- Do you still have an old TMCC base connected directly to the track? Remove if you do.
- Are the engines set up as Legacy and not TMCC or Cab1 in the Legacy set up
- any chance run/program switch set to program?
- engine ID correct?
They are just confused trying to answer to two masters. Let them answer to only one to remove the confusion.
You operated them with DCS before adding the Legacy. Program them to one system or the other. or at least, don't have them active in the DCS roster.

Why would having them in the DCS mess anything up? This has to be something else such as what Chris has offered.
having them in the DCS setup is going to have no affect.
When I finished my layout 2yrs ago, I installed legacy and dcs simultaneously. My now non-responding tmcc engines ran well up until recently and they were never entered into the dcs roster, only into the cab2. What's baffling is now I cant even reset them with new road i.d. numbers. When I hit the cab2 ''set'' button, there is no headlight change nor horn noise of acceptance. the run/program switch is in proper position. dcs also does not recognize them when I recently tried. This mystery affects all of my lionel tmcc engines. Again, if I place them on a separate layout, they are fine in conventional mode. I appreciate any sugeestions!
How many engines are you having trouble with? It seems odd that it's just TMCC engines. Have they been stored on the track or elsewhere maybe the radio boards have come loose and need to be reseated.

In the CAB2 setup verify they are set to TMCC mode.
Try disconnecting the TMCC/DCC cable and run the Legacy base control wire directly to the track
Lets see what happen
I agree with Chris. The first point is to isolate Legacy from DCS. Not that DCS is the cause but it certainly takes that variable out of the equation.
Go over the basics. You might even want to consider if possible taking your Legacy to a separate loop and go from there.

Interesting question. He mentioned TMCC locos and installing the Legacy Control System and DCS control, didn't see any mention of Legacy engines.
It's right there in his original post that you replied to. Now that's interesting!!
