does my tmcc get hooked up to the dcs ground or hot and what side does it get connected to.

TMCC goes to the outside rail (common, ground) or whatever you refer to it as. NOT the center rail (HOT)
We run both systems, DCS and TMCC/Legacy, and they are NOT connected together in any manner.
You could use the serial cable IF you want to control TMCC engines using the DCS remote, but we don't do it that way. We use DCS for DCS, and Cab1/2 for TMCC/Legacy. Really depends on how you want to control your engines/layout.
bigdogjeff1,
Your TMCC or Legacy run directly to the outside track rail, your transformer runs to the Channels of the TIU, use the outside rail that you are not using for the DCS TIU Black wire for your TMCC or Legacy.

It can be connected using a lockon or however you now connect the transformer.
Dave,
use the outside rail that you are not using for the DCS TIU Black wire for your TMCC or Legacy.
Why not either rail?
Can I attach it to the ground on the back of the zw 275
If you do that, you'l pass the TMCC signal straight through the DCS signal generator. No good can come of that.
