Has any body noticed that their TMCC controlled engines function better in one direction than the other?? On my layout this seems to be true of Lionel & Atlas engines, but not all of them. Some are fine. Any ideas why???

are you talking about crossing switches or down the track in general?
Have you tried them in conventional mode to see if this is really not a TMCC issue?
This is on the track in general, and I tried my #5444 NYC Hudson, and an Atlas diesel. Both run Ok forward in TMCC, but to run the other direction, headlight flickers like crazy, and the Hudson will just plain quit from loss of signal????

I've never seen anything quite like that, but I'd be looking at the track and TMCC connection since it happens with more than one locomotive. Did you try running a ground wire near the track to help with the TMCC signal strength?
I had something similar. It was a MTH engine that was upgraded to TMCC.
it ran fine forward but not in reverse. Then I noticed that I was getting some
arcing between the engine bar and the tender tongue.
come to find out it was a dirty connection from the tether to the engine.
so I was losing my ground intermittently. This caused some problems when backing up.
I cleaned the contacts and the problem went away.
Yes, I have this problem right now. Mine actually stops after running a few seconds. See if it accelerates smoother with holding the boost, like mine. I did notice that the board is a R2LC-C11, could that be causing this? I just bought a new R2LC from Bill to swap this out. Any of these items common with your issue?

Not really. Maybe I caught it before it did to much damage.
I knew the sparking was not good. Guess I was lucky.
