I need to know how to reset an SC-1 and SC-2 to erase previous programing of switch codes and enter new ones. I looked through the manual and didn't see anything for clearing it out or resetting.

On the SC-2, slide the run/program switch to program. If you want 6 accessories instead of switches, press ACC 1 on your cab-1 or cab-2 and set. Slide to run and you have 6 accessories then. Do the same for reverting back to switches and you will get 6 switches. If you have a 2nd SC-2, you program that one with ACC 7 and you get ACC 7 to 12 then automatically programmed for that. Same goes for switches.
As for clearing, go to Lionel's website and use the search with the SC-2 product code for the manual for other questions.
Never used a SC-1 but it should program the same way as a SC-2.
There is no "clear" function, just program as per the manual. You set the first position of the SC controller to any desired number on the keypad(for switches or accessories) and the remaining "slots" follow sequentially.
See page 18 of the SC-2 manual for instructions to clear a route. Clear each route separately, then start afresh.
SC-2 manual from the Lionel website. Click on the underlined phrase to access.
Routes, yes, but there is no clear function for switch codes. The closest thing would be to clear the routes and assign/program all SC's to SW1/ACC1.
I must be missing something here. If you assign the ID/base address for the first switch to be controlled by the SC-2, the other switches are sequential. Rewriting the base assignment also reassigns the other switches. There isn't any need to clear an old base address before setting a new one.
Routes must be individually cleared, as indicated earlier.
(Page 13 mentions that ID#0 is reserved for clearing the settings. I haven't tried that myself.)
There isn't any need to clear an old base address before setting a new one.
That was his question.
I know of no way to "clear" the switch assignments other than overwriting/reassigning.
We will have to see what the OP "needs" to clear them for before reassigning as he doesn't say.
