tmcc variations

I have several Lionel engines. Some have a wired eng-tender tether and some a wireless drawbar connection. What is the difference in the tmcc system between the two? Also is the wireless ones upgradable to super chuffer and other functions?

There is no real difference other than the way the serial data got to the tender for the sound function. Either type is up gradable to the Super-Chuffer if you have a fan driven smoke unit.
