Chuck, there are several qualified MTH factory authorized service techs on this forum, myself included, that are qualified to do the work you need. I would stick with guys who are factory authorized by MTH for many reasons but the first is it will bring you the best equability work you can get. engine house hobbies in Gaithersburg MD has converted many engines for me: SMR Wooton to proto2, Kline (Lt. Mikado, rdg tank, NYC Hudson) to Proto 2 and Lionel 3 and 4 truck shays to Proto2 and Proto 3. They are currently converting a 3rd Rail SF 2900 class to Proto 3. I highly recommend them.
Chuck - go to the MTH web site, click on 'service' Find ASC (Authorized Service Center', click again.enter your zip, enter, you will find a list of ASC's within a 100 mile radius. The name is listed - click on the name, and you get contact info.
Stick with an authorized service tech for many reasons. Their work is guaranteed.
