That's pretty cool. I noticed on YouTube that there was one dislike, how could you possibly dislike that shot?
I love it!

A tripod would have helped. And a little editing...
Yeah, so we wouldn't have to hear her lose her footing at 2:02.
are all those mid america Pax cars of SF decent?
What was with those Gons loaded with ballast pulling up the rear?
I noticed guys at the base of the hill right in front of this guy had the tripods, I think they where the pros and I think most of these other guys where just try not to fall off the ledge. Besides if he would have edited it we wouldn't have seen that cool non-standard caboose at the back of the train

That's not ballast. It's coal!
No, not all the cars are ex-SP cars.
Shoot...I am PROUD of that little moment! Did you hear how fast I caught the slip and got back into it? Nothing to be ashamed of there. Wet rail will do that to you every once in a while.
I know, it was a good catch! Just funnin' with ya!
At 5:04 you can see into the firebox. That baby is glowin' hot!
Same location, just a bit higher, shot on my iphone. Unfortunately, I missed the wheel slip...eh...I mean amazing recovery!

Was waiting for 765 to stall at one point, but made it. Then liked all that authenic flange squealing on the curve!
How did you deal with hotbox detectors as I imagine the firebox heat tripped them immediately?
How do you get the shovel out of the gon?
Rich,
Thanks to you and all the crew and to NS for the wonderful show Monday! Between your climb and 759's, I'd say the NKP Berk's can now claim some mountain goat status to go with that fast and flat freight fame.
I briefly listened to the recording of 759 last night after getting home. It seems to me 765 ran a bit faster, and with wet rails to boot.
Even my 12-year old daughter, who was "trained" out several years ago, decided it was worth the eight hours in the car.

Way cool!
Will that lil' excavator actually reach high enough to load the tender? That is rather ingenius to have your fuel with ya' and a way to self load! Next time take a crane with a clam bucket with and I'll operate the crane

I never piloted an steam engine before (or any train for that matter other then models) but I was impressed how fast you caught it. it was way cool.
