I have no idea, but the club slowest run record was set by a first-generation conventional MTH Shay. Took 45 minutes to get around the layout running at minimal voltage. I estimate it was traveling at about 5 SMPH. The layout has changed since then and I don't think we could duplicate it without having the train stall, but now that this has been put out there you KNOW I'm going to have to try it.

Matt, I remember Howie and I sent one train around the entire piece of main line track. It was over six minutes, I do not remember How fast it was going, however it was a passenger train so it was not a slow boat to china speed like the shay.

At a tiny bit more than half that speed, 26 scale miles per hour, a train takes that same time - two minutes and fifty seconds, for one pass around my number one mainline loop: my loop is only 135 feet around, whereas your loop must be about 260 feet.  I usually like to run at about 40 mph and it takes about minute and three quarters.

I have absolutely no idea . But it's a interesting question. Your train was seriously hauling ***.

Elliot's and NJ Hi-Railers I about fell asleep. Don't get me wrong ...I love the videos. I will always watch them.

I think a 100 car coal trains coming  through Erwin is faster that Elliot's train makes it around his layout. Boy that's a big layout.

Anyway, I got to get me a go pro and make some movies. I bought both my sons one this past Christmas. And dear old Dad ain't got one yet.

I get a real kick out of the videos that all the OGR members post.  Seem to be a growing trend on here lately, and I do like it.

By happenstance of it being as large as I could fit into the space, my Basement floor special, that is all I have to run on just now, worked our to being darn near exactly one half scale mile.  From time to time I time the trains to see what sort of speed they  are going.  Can't seem to do much less than about 10 mph on the low end without stalling(TMCC, LC, and Conventional all have about that same low end for me), but most of my engines will do well over prototypical speeds.  I find I like the "Look" of long freight moving about 25-30 SMPH, and shorter passengers trains about 50-60 SMPH
