I've just received word that attendees of the March Meet which runs from March 16th through the 18th in Lombard, IL at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center can attend a free private guided tour of Chicago's Union Station! There will be access to the trains, the control room and much more! The tour will begin at 11AM on Friday, March 16th. More details to follow and watch the March Meet website for more details!!! This the first time there have been actual tours as part of the event, so let's show the organizers our support! Should be a fantastic tour!

Tours

This year we have added tours to the venue of our show!

Illinois Railway Museum

Join us at 10AM Friday, March 16th for a self-guided tour of the Illinois Railway Museum (IRM). The IRM is located in Union, IL, approximately 50 miles from the show, but is well worth the drive. The museum is technically closed during this time but has agreed to open up for attendees of our show. When you arrive at the museum drive around the back where there will be a fence with a communications box. Push the button on the box and you will be buzzed inside. There is no charge, but a free-will donation will be accepted in the office. For more information including directions and sights inside the museum, click on this link www.irm.org.

Tour of Chicago's famous Union Station

Join Amtrak's Director of Government Affairs, Derrick James, at the clock tower in the Great Hall of Union Station at 210 S. Canal Street, Chicago at 11 am on Friday, March 16th, for a guided tour of this historic station. Derrick will take you through the head house, concourse, control center and into some of the passenger trains, giving you a history of the station and a glimpse into it's inner workings today. The tour is free for attendees of our show and will last approximately one hour. You can find your own way downtown, or utilize the shuttle service from the hotel which will take you to the Metra station. From the Metra it's a short ride to the Ogilvie Station downtown and a two block walk to Union Station.
