Hi guys, after getting great feedback from several people on some of my projects at hand, it would appear that I am at a decision point when it comes to track.

I am wanting to run an MTH AEM-7 locomotive and train on 2 rail track. Now knowing what I have learned from the experts here, that is the easy part, as there is a switch allowing for overhead pick-up. Off to catenary school...but wait! The MTH AEM-7's come with hi-rail wheel-sets and are not offered with the Proto3/2 system. If I am understanding all this, it means that I can run the train on 2 rail track after throwing a switch on the locomotive, but now I can't run on Atlas code 148 like I was hoping because of the deep flanges...So, if I want to run on two rail I am guessing that I need two rail track with the same basic profile as Atlas 3 rail to accept the hi-rail flanges???  If I am correct, then what track would you recommend???

Thank you for your time, Todd

Have you tried placing your engine on Atlas code 148 track?  All my hi-rail engines and rolling stock all run on the Micro-Engineering and Atlas code 148 track I have, the only issue you might have is thru switches.  However, I've built 6 #6 switches so far and all my engines run thru them fine.  I'm also getting Signature Switch Company to make a few 2-rail switches that will work with hi-rail wheels.
