Is there any reason not use a Dremel with a brush wheel (kind of like a green scrubby) to buff the tracks for cleaning? Seemed to do a great job. I also used this to remove the black from the middle rail.

As long as you wear goggles to protect your eyes I see nothing wrong with it. If you have wooden ties you need to be careful because the wheel will rub the stain off them too.

I don't remember where I read this but using a Swiffer wet cloth works great for me.
Plus I use the poll for those hear to reach places
Scotch-Brite , a clean rag and Goo Gone is working well
A power driven brush?Seems a little extreme to me.Soft cloth and some kind of mild solvent?Nick
We use this car with the pad soaked in denatured alcohol.
A rag with denatured or isopropyle with do the same thing, except for the areas you can't reach. There is no reason to use any type of power tool to clean track.
I just built a deep well flat with two cavities in the well. One has a roller with a cloth soaked in Wahl Clipper Oil, the other has a wood block with a piece of 400 wet-or-dry sandpaper stapled to it. Does a very nice job at a tenth the price of a less realistic looking track cleaning car.
Not really necessary - have not cleaned the O and standard gauge track on either of my two home layouts in over five years now and have had NO problems with either Legacy, DCS or conventional operation.
Track cleaning is way overrated! I just let the steel wheels polish the rails for me!
Hi fellow member Splash Mike • This video I made may help. I still like the Lionel Track Cleaning Stone the best. Lionel Maintenance Kit 6-62927

Glasses and going easy with it sounds fine with me, then in a pinch any cloth with a safe cleaning solution is fine.
Well, I answered Mike's question rather than pushing other methods. If we're going to go down that road, I will offer my plans and photos for my homemade track cleaning car you can make for less than 5 bucks. Mike if you are interested, my email is in my profile.
