80 years ago the last train left the Denver South Park and Pacific's depot in Como, Colorado.
Yesterday, 5/27/2017, was the first day of track laying from the restored depot to the turntable. Later this year Klondike Mines 2-6-2 #4 will be moved to Como for operation on the new yard tracks there.
The Denver South Park and Pacific Historical Society is laying the track and all our welcome, and enthusiastically encouraged, to participate. You do not have to be a society member to participate.
Future work sessions are Sunday June 11, Saturday June 24, Sunday July 2, Saturday July 15, and Sunday July 30. Sessions start around 9:30 and lunch is provided.
For details contain society president Bob Schoppe at rschoppe52@gmail.com. Society information is at www.dspphs.org.
We hope to have things ready to show the steam engine running for the National Narrow Gauge Convention, Boreas Pass Days and for the society's own convention.
See you at the next work day!
