I would like to know how much Fastrak is needed for a 4 x 8 layout straights and curves. I am assuming O36 would be the best to use. If not what should I use? If I decide to use tubular track what would I need?

@Nick DiSandro what you need depends on what you want your layout to be. I have a bunch of MTH sections on the For Sale forum - plenty for a nice 4x8 layout I was going to build for my grandson. Of course there are lots of options out there and even more opinions. Decide on what you want and how much you want to spend. For my own layout I bought mostly Ross track and switches used prior to the pandemic. The other issue is availability, not much good if you can't get the track you need. Based on what I am seeing on the used market I am asking 1/2 to 1/3 from forum members.
There are several good links for track layouts. Since you are dealing with 4x8 I would recommend you find something that interests you and modify to suit what you like.

Here are a couple I was considering for my grandson. These used to be available on the web, but I cannot find them as of today, I do have all the by the piece list details for each layout. Let me know if you want the file.
The Freight Express all 031 curves

Scouting Dad's "Thor" tip is a good one. With a little bit of care and consideration, Super "0" layout plans can be adapted to 036 Fastrack plans. But for me as well as others, the traditional tubular is easiest to work with. Good Luck!
