Train Fest is coming up a week from tomorrow. Anyone on the forum going to attend? I've heard about it for years and finally am going to drive up and spend the day. I know there are a lot of layouts. Also heard there are a lot of vendors although it sounds like they are all stores and suppliers and no just folks with tables.

I am part of the Milwaukee Transit Archives museum and we have an O scale trolley layout on display there. It is not a swap meet, there will be a lot for sale, almost all of it from hobby shops or manufacturers. There are a lot of good layouts to see, it’s a pretty cool show.
It is well worth the trip (270 miles each way for me). Lots of operating layouts, and they have numerous free clinics on a variety of prototype and modeling topics.
There are several cottage industry vendors there - paper structures, plaques, and other unusual stuff.
Last year, I found the trolley layouts to be particularly interesting, since that type of layout seems to lend itself to being portable.
Sounds like a lot of fun for sure. I haven't seen an operating trolley layout in a long time. I wonder if the OGR folks might be there?

Seeing you are making the long drive I would recommend you call the guys at the Lionel Club in milwaukee and ask to see their clubhouse. It is one of the best club layouts in the country. I’ve done this in the past and they graciously welcomed me and my boys for a post show tour.

The Milwaukee Lionel Club House will be open Saturday Night after Trainfest closes for the evening. Be sure to stop in and enjoy. It happens every year for distant visitors. See the website for location. Only 15 or 20 min. from Trainfest

I know that at least five of us will be going. Best show of the year within reasonable driving distance. Going on Saturday and same group again on Sunday at DuPage.

Thanks for the info on the Lionel club. Seems to me that I remember that is the original. We'll check it out for sure. I hope to see some on you around but as big as it appears to be I'm afraid it will be difficult.
