Most, in not all, of these collisions could be avoided if the truck drivers were trained to call the phone number on the blue sign that identifies the crossing. A brother of mine, who drives a tractor trailer, had no idea of this sign when I mentioned it to him. He recently stopped for another driver who was bottomed on the crossing and luckily there was a fire station near by where the railroad was contacted and the train was able to stop about 100 yards from the crossing. My brother showed the other driver the sign at the crossing. The other driver told him that he's been driving for over 25 years and never knew or was told the sign was there.
