I just spent an hour watching an auction by Stout Auctions Toy and Train Specialist.  At first the prices were okay, but they had this "buyers premium" which didn't make sense and made the costs too high.  It was fun to watch but my refresh button got a work out.  Maybe I just don't know how to watch these auctions.

Buyer's premiums are always part of any auctions.  Usually ranging form 13% to 17%, they can go way up depending upon the venue and the auctioneers.  I don't mind, I just build it into my total cost when I am considering to bid or not to bid.  It's just a cost of doing business.   You can still get some good bargains at auctions.  Ebay is an auction site, and the buyers premium is usually built into the starting price of the item.  You as a buyer don't see the buyers premium on the 'Bay, but the seller has to pay them a total of 13% (10% to eBay and 3% to Paypal), and that includes all shipping costs.
