Hi all. Posted long time ago, but back for more! I'm having some problems with my train. I put up my train for the Christmas season. The last two years I am getting the same problem and I do not know what is going on.

I have the Pere Marquette 1225 Bluetooth train. I use Fastrack 036 curves with straights. I place the train and sometimes it will go around the track half way...then stop. The light is out so you can tell there is no electrical power to it.

I have a 180W Powerhouse with 6-34120 TMCC Direct Lockon.

At times, the train is at a stand still with the light one. I tell the train to move forward and even before it moves, it powers off. Other times, it could get half way around, then you can see it starts to choke and then stop.

Since I took the train to a Lionel shop, he said nothing was wrong with the train.

Thoughts on how I can resolve this? I'm thinking either tracks are cutting out, TMCC Direct is causing problems, or the 180W powerhouse is the problem. How can I find out?

A lack of good electrical continuity is a well known issue with Fastrack and one which is easily rectified. To establish a good friction fit I put a slight bend in each Fastrack center-rail connecting pin as shown in this pic:

Bent in the direction of the screwdriver tip, CAREFULLY. It is pot metal and will break if abused. I also crimp the outside rail female ends slightly to ensure a good friction fit with the adjoining rail pin.

To insure good continuity I also pop the bottom cover off of all track switches and solder all buss-bars to their corresponding rail-tabs:

There are five such spots in the pic, one to the immediate left of the screwdriver tip.
