The show itself is nothing really amazing. Last year I went there were only about 4 or 5 tables/booths with a decent O selection. Still, if only 1.5 hour drive then it might be worth it. Might be worth a trip to Lionel as well. At least to their small store. Only about 45mins from the museum.
The NS Safety Train is at the museum this weekend as well. So that'll be a bonus to see.
According to the show coordinator there have been over a hundred tables sold. Don't forget the Little Choo Choo train store across the street from the museum.
Choo Choo hobby did, back when I lived in Charlotte, have a big O selection....so between show, museum and hobby shop.....1.5 drive is a no brainer.......I drive much further all the time.
Yes between the NC Transportation Museum , the train show & Little Choo Choo it makes for a good day trip . Little Choo Choo will also have the "blue bldg." open with some vendors offering used O and HO . It is right next to the hobby shop .
Last year it was okay, there was some good deals on a few O gauge items, but this year it is supposed to be much better from what I have heard. Last year I was there to take a tour of the museums two private cars, which they are doing again. I have to drive one hour, it is well worth it. If I could make it this year I would.
