Hey all, I am moving to Fuquay-Verina, just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina in a few weeks. Does anyone know of any train shows within an hour drive or so from that area?

Check TCA web site for meets schedule for meets. Be sure to check if scheduled that the meet is still on.

George, welcome to the area. Currently, the Neuse River Model RR club has a train show scheduled for early November at the Graham building on the NC state fairgrounds in Raleigh. This show is the largest and oldest train show in North Carolina. I f I recall correctly, this will be their 31 year. The next scheduled TCA show is for the second weekend in December in the Scott building on the NC State fairgrounds. Both are two day shows.
Assuming they go on, I plan to be set up at both of them. Please stop by and say hello if you go.
Happy railroading,
Don

DG Jones, I will be at both shows as well, if they happen!
I know that you asked about North Carolina but if you do not mind a drive to Columbia, SC there is a show at the Jamil Shrine Temple twice a year; in the spring and fall. Show dates are available online; quite possibly at the site mentioned above. I have been to a few and have enjoyed them; being a two-railer, I generally do not bring much home but the selection of stuff is worth a visit. I took these while waiting for the show to open:
