Bought a NOS 45 degree Lionel crossing. At first the train was derailing at the crossing--dremel fixed that! Now the engine stops right on the crossing! I am using new K line track and the pins are tight. Going to buy a volt meter tomorrow. Any advice on meter to buy and what to look for on the crossing? thanks, Don

There are lots of meters out there that look just like this one. They all seem to be from the same plant in China, but branded for different retailers.
Probably Radio Shack has a similar one, in the same price range or slightly higher. Auto parts stores often have them in the "$10 impulse purchase" bin near the front door.
I bought ten of them from a guy in the Orange Hall and gave most of them away for Xmas gifts.
Are the two rollers under the locomotive far enough apart to span the insulated part of the crossing? Are both rollers connected together? The problem may not be in the crossing.
Good point. He may need a ruler, rather than a meter.
I have a friend who has a layout with an Atlas 45% crossing, and his Lionel NYC S-1 electric stalls on it because of the spacing of its rollers.

Three inches between rollers and insulated area is only 2 1/2 inch! I sat a passenger car on the crossing and the lights are ON, so got some juice. Looking for voltage meter to narrow down the problem. Thanks for the help!
Thanks for the help--the front roller is dead!! Started another thread to hopefully get a fix!! Don
