Although my layout is in storage, I have photos of some of the buildings on it, even though some don't have a permanent place yet.
A lot of stores and shops have a place under the high line. This one isn't quite finished yet.
A good friend made this one for me. I treasure it and it will find a place of honor on the layout. Like most places on y layout, a hot rod or two will be present. The Deuce roadster is awaiting an engine and interior.
A firehouse flat turned into a full 3D building.
Love 50s cars, but they need maintenance once in a while.
Being a hot rodder, this well known Kustom appeared on my layout one day!
A resin kit that I just HAD to illuminate with LEDs and gin up a basic lobby

Very nice work Jerry', Let's see some more of your stuff'.....⭐👍😊
OK, here's a few more of what my layout looked like, especially some of the buildings.
I prefer 3D versions of buildings, but with a specific location on my layout, it was necessary to build a whole city block at once. Interiors are basic, and will be illuminated with LEDs eventually, as will the street lights.
Early on
Almost finished
A switch tower kit with actual opening windows. It was at the throat of a ladder yard
An Art Deco car dealership made from HO plans upscaled to S. It since has had roof details added:
Trackside view of a resin kit from Pine Canyon, modified to fit a space
This is why I do S. I love something a bit different. S isn't always a "scratch builder's scale", but at times it's necessary. I'd love to have the variety of buildings available in HO, or even O. In S, kits are out there, but even so, I just can't leave them alone!

Jerry, I would have not realized your layout is S Scale (The Special Scale). You have some very impressive structures. I hope you get to set up your layout again very soon'... Thanks for posting your work'...👍😃👌⭐

Someone managed to snap off a shot with their Speed Graphic camera on a August afternoon at Sadie, TN. The shadow from the Texaco "Sheppard's crook" sign post shows up on the TN State Patrol car, though.
Mr. Grindstaff must be discussing "that war across the water" with one of the older men who hang around his store these days...
Trumptrain, Awesome scenes, especially the man on the Throne, great scenic effects, Wow., P51, Lee, great old fashioned picture of a neat older model car, Briansilvermustang, cool New Haven diesels, great paint scheme, Sidehack Ray, great idea, a picture taken inside the diesel, Birds Eye View, Don Winslow, neat Postwar look, trestle, good looking Budd units, great Steamer, great scenes, Trumptrain, one picture for you with lights from some windows.... Happy Railroading Everyone,

I won't be starting on my new layout in "our forever home" until sometime late next year after a couple of remodeling projects, but here are some side views from my last home's layout.

OK, it's now Thursday, so here's some of a VERY long term project which is a model of the Michigan Central depot in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The depot consists of the main building plus a baggage building and luggage building. Since my town's buildings are loosely based on those in Ann Arbor, I want the depot to be the centerpiece. Since I'm a bit crazy, I've been working on the building on and off (mainly off) for years.
The actual building in the 50s:
My model:
Interior around 1900. Today, the depot is a restaurant with tables in the room, which makes it hard to photograph:
The model:
For some reason, I made the walls out of plexiglass. The plastic is about the thickness of the actual stone walls. Why so long in making the structure? I want to make the second floor also, but cannot locate any plans for the building and the restaurant won't let me upstairs. I've had to speculate based on input from architect friends. I plan on eventually illuminating the structure and duplicating the canopy and stonework.
Yeah, I'm crazy...

This would count as a throwback. These are both from 2016 and the layout was just torn down to make way for a new layout.

Some people I added this week, bought off the bay for a buck. Anyone know who makes or made these? I’d like to get some more.

I don't think I've posted this in this thread before...
Hi everyone...its an incredibly stormy day in Texas today, we have had lightning and thunder, 6.7" of rain, flash floods and other interesting things for the last 3 days. Luckily I don't teach on Thursday as it took 25 minutes longer to get to campus yesterday due to detours around flooded roads...well the newspapers are saying at least we won't have a drought!
Well just train watching down by the depot today, I note that the mid-day express to Atlanta seems to have hurried on its way, even faster than normal...leaves one wondering what is it trying to get out of the way for? However in just a few moments, me and everyone else in small town, will know what the excitement is!!
Here is the reason for the excitement...THE CIRCUS IS COMING TO TOWN! Just after the express moves out of the arrival track, the circus train arrives under PRR (no less!) diesel power. The animal cars arrive first with the small animal 2 level circus car, the horse transport car, and of course the giraffe's. WOW...this is a big deal in small town and it is the typical Labor Day weekend festival. OH BOY...I can taste that roasted corn, corn dogs, and funnel cake already!
Happy Thursday everyone
