Just after the nightly news tonight there was a train derailment in Riviera Beach north of West Palm Beach FL. Looks like it could be an FEC engine that derailed, not sure from the photo on the website at www.wpbf.com
Latest picture showed the front of the engine-- it's 419--one of the remaining GP40-2's(could also be a -3) on the FEC. Must have been a local as ALL the through freights are powered by the ES44-C4's. Did not fall over completely-- only about 35-40 degrees-- Depending on which track it was on(this is double track territory) only one track will be closed until they get the crane in to get the engine upright--- there will probably be more information by tomorrow--
No more official information on line at the local news sites-- but the FEC must have gotten at least one track cleared and verified for use, as the normal 5:30 am southbound went by on time---
Almost another train accident this morning at the Forest Hill Blvd. crossing, school bus ran the stop lights at the crossing, first it stopped then it went through the flashing red lights with crossing arms coming down. Barely missed the bus! Tri-Rail was called and Palm Beach county school bus was reported.
