Love that RDC!
Peter
The RDC is really cool but I've always been a sucker for steam. Where were these taken? Thanks for posting.
The 1st two are at the station in Gaithersburg , MD.
I took the picture of the freight train at the MARC Riverdale station.
RE: The Old Town Gaithersburg Station.
Sometimes if I'm out and about on weekends and the timing is right (4:40 P.M. or so) I'll pull into the station area (near the RDC pictured above) and watch the Capitol Limited come through on it's way out of D.C. Union Station to Chicago. A few weekends ago, the Cap was pulling one of those classic rebuilt railcars on the end. Might have been the Dover Harbor but not sure.
A few other photos from around Gaithersburg....
The RDC has also had the roof leak fixed, Heat and A/C, and museum displays installed and is open during museum hours along with the caboose.
This is the current Bay Window caboose here that came from the B&O Museum. It has since been repainted in a non-authentic paint scheme advertising the city museum in the freight house. It has also been fitted with air conditioning and heat and has displays in side and is open during museum hours (which I are/were 10-2 Thursday-Saturday). I haven't been in it yet. This replaced a B&O I-12 about 5 years ago. The I-12 went to the Hagerstown Museum. This is not my photo.
A few older photos before restoration of the #14, caboose, and prior to the arrival of the RDC from the B&O Museum. This is a troop sleeper that went to the Hagerstown Museum when the RDC came in. Photos taken by me in the summer of 2010. They also tore up the siding next to the troop sleeper and CSX removed the switch to the mainline. With the removal of the switch and siding, no more MARC equipment displays during Olde Town Day and other events.
