1970 a good year for trains? Maybe from a nostalgia viewpoint. But in reality the Northeast railroads were failing big-time and passenger service was going down the drain. The ICC was stalling on important issues that severely impacted railroads. New interstate highways were being built everywhere, setting the stage to drain traffic from the railroads.
