Great pics! I grew up 4 blocks from the IC Woodcrest yard. The sound of idleing geeps lulled me to sleep as a toddler. Its now a CN yard.

That EL 903 is an RS2 frequently seen on the Boonton line in Jersey. Too bad we lost the Lake Cities early that year.
1970 a good year for trains? Maybe from a nostalgia viewpoint. But in reality the Northeast railroads were failing big-time and passenger service was going down the drain. The ICC was stalling on important issues that severely impacted railroads. New interstate highways were being built everywhere, setting the stage to drain traffic from the railroads.
In 1970 the new BN had a rainbow assortment of motive power.
In 1970 I upgraded from a Kodak Brownie camera to a Minolta SRT-101, which remained my primary camera for 30+ years.
