Hi all,
I was told yesterday at the show that I went to that the ZW doesn't have enough amperage for the Standard gauge trains and switches.
A "K" was better and Z was mentioned, I was wondering about a "V" if that had more amperage for my needs?what info do you guy's
have on this.

KW, VW, & ZW will generally work just fine.
Amperage is adequate with any of these. If more voltage is desired, you could move to a R, V or Z for 24-25 volts. A Type K is 150 watts and up to 25 volts, but requires a rheostat for fine tuning train speed.
Those transformers do not put out more amperage than a ZW. They do put out a max of 25 volts. Anything needing 25 volts to run needs to be taken in for repair. Anything putting out 18 volts and 100 watts will work fine.
If a ZW doesn't work, I'm having a problem thinking of an old PW transformer that would be more appropriate. 
At the club we have two loops of standard gauge powered by one new style ZW with two 180 watt bricks. This has been running for two years now without any problems. It has taken on all comers.
