I have herd of American Flier wide gauge bodies with Ives trucks referred to the "Transition period" I have an idea of a simple explanation but I would like to hear from someone who knows obviously more than I do about the exact meaning. Thank you.

WOW Thanks hojack. Great information I will look for a copy of the book you mentioned.
I did get a copy of America's Standard Gauge Electric Trains" and it is a great publication explaining some of the standard gauge history. Highly recommended!
Chris,
Dr. Riddle is one of the best in the industry..IMHO His other book "Trains From Grandfather's Attic" is also very good. I have read and re-read each over and over.
I would like to get a copy of that as well. If anyone has one they want to sell..
Chris - Check out alibris.com...they always have a bunch of copies listed:

PD
Chris, Riddle's "Grandfather's Attic" book is great, but be aware it is 100% O Gauge, no standard gauge information.
I would like to get a copy of that as well. If anyone has one they want to sell..
Starting at $15.09 at Amazon, at the time of this writing. Not nearly as lavishly illustrated as the Standard Gauge book, however.
