I just found this layout in the Nov-Dec 2016 Issue of the O Scale Resource Magazine & it is VERY inspiring for a new "pup" venturing into O Scale 2 rail & presents many new approaches to buildings, etc.,that help "put to 1 side" the expense of buildings, etc.,while using great "mockups" from cardboard. This gets things moving even if it's just mentally.

This is a great model railroad that I've only had time to skip through but will return to & print it out for many readings later. The only thing I didn't find was the overall layout dimensions. Does anyone know them?

Thanks to all for your help in advance.

As Always,

Al Hummel

44 x 18 feet is a pretty decent layout size.      You could have an around the walls and peninsula if you can handle pinchpoints at the tip  of the peninsula.   Say your benchwork at the widest tip of the peninsula is 24 inches wide on each wall, that is 4 feet.   Then allow 2 ft aisle pinchpoints at that location, another 4ft.    That leaves 10 feet for the tip of the peninsula which would allow a curve around just under 5 feet radius, say 56 inches to allow 2 inches clearance on each side.     At the other end, if all on one level, your curves may be down closer to 4ft, but if you climb a grade around the peninsula, you could maintain the 56 inch radius at that end by having the lower curve duck into a tunnel under the upper one and still maintain walk-around track plan.

My layout room is 47x23 feet, just a little bigger.   I go twice around the outside and once around a peninsula and this gives me a run of over 350 feet.   I have over 50 industrial locations on the layout and a yard along one long wall.    The outside runs are grade separated anywhere from 4-8 inches.    I stuck with 52 inch minimum radius.
