I have been busy making trees.
I had to weather those hoppers too.

Looks awesome! How do you weather?
Trees and weathering look great. Are they all handmade? The grass next to the hopper looks very well done too. To me the greenery is what makes a scene look realistic. Thanks for sharing.
hopper looks great!
Very nice Dave, come over and help!!
looks like you been busy with an air brush too... looks great!

Basil,
I like using an airbrush with solvent based paint (Tru-Color). Sometimes I will stipple with acrylics too.
The trees are poly fibe,r painted black covered with Scenic Express flock and turf.
Thanks for all of the nice comments and likes!
Dave
Those are great trees. I also like the power line poles. Did you buy those or make them? If you made them, you should do a video how-to.
Very nice, Dave......
Looks awesome Dave!
Dave, what did you use for the tree armatures?
Dave everything in the photos looks awesome!!!! I have a couple questions!
Are those telephone poles scratch build, or did you purchase them?
What type of ballast did you use ?
Thanks,
Alex
The telephone poles loom just like the ones we use on the club layout to string TMCC ground wires. We haven't been able to get any more. I'd also love to know where these came from
And quite a few
The telephone poles are scratch. They are pretty easy to make but time consuming. I find when I do not want to start another project but want to work on the layout, I just make some telephone poles. They are similar to the ones David Barran used to make for Ross.
There are no armatures for the trees. They are held in place with wire.
Ballast is Mercer Junction blend. No glue needed, just water.

Here is a photo of a transformer pole.
Dave,
Thanks for the info, can you post a material list so i can make the telephone poles
Also do you sell a large size ballast and how much is it ?
Dave,
I thought they looked familiar. We use the David Barran poles on the NJHR layout. I would also like to learn more about their construction. How about some step by step pics when you make some more?
Thanks
Chris

LOL Thanks John!
Maybe even a simple parts list and retailer would be helpful?
