Hah! Then he has obviously never ridden the real thing.  UP delays Amtrak for anything they can make up.  In my 5 trips between Oakland and Denver (or beyond) never had less than 3 hours of delays here and there usually in the middle of nowhere going from one siding to the next as traffic passes in both directions.

Kudos for some great pics though!

Exactly- Both OMI brass and MTH are used in these photos together coupled up to one another.

The lobster claws are a little coy but it proves there are more options to low budget O scale looking for a great looking model without paying $1300-$4000 a piece. The MTH F40PH is really fantastic, I have never seen one until he brought up his SkiTrain set; WOW. They are gorgeous, new wheels and fix the pilot and claws and this model is really terrific.

Thanks Michael!

Here's my MTH Genesis. I did put 2 rail wheels and that was easy. I have to fix the pilot and add KDs still.

Adding KDs to their cars looks quite challenging. The diaphrams stick way out. I'll have to cut them back and make up some kind of mount for the coupler. I wish I had got more Atlas 2 rail Amtrak cars. They even have Leds inside already! I hope MTH improves their cars soon to match their engines. Joe

Pitogo,

That Amtrak F40 is another club member's engine, but I do have 3 Amtrak and 3 Ski Train to convert.  For years now, I have been getting great deals on 3 Rail and 2 Rail stuff that has been hard to pass up.  Now that Kirk Mitchell is no longer with us, I can't tap into so many great liquidation deals so I only buy 2 Rail now - and pre order but no pre pay like brass is an added bonus!

Any way to contact this person? I definitely want to get my hands on those Roadrailer coupling trucks! I also would not mind finding out what modifications he did to the Bowsers[esp the triple crowns]. Pics would be wonderful!

A similar Amtrack train has been running each year on the large modular layout used at the Big E Amherst show in Springfield Ma, I believe it is all Overland products[2 power units and a long train 12-16 cars] interestingly that modular layout has been recently offered for sale by the organization that sets it up,I do not know the story there.
