Nice looking train. Love the old warbonnet scheme! Overland did a wonderful job on their locos in the 90's. It's hard to believe that those GP60's are over twenty years old! The PRB Twinstacks are very nice too! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Guys! Yeah, I Like'em! Interesting fact: "I found these two in a dusty part of a Pawn Shop in Las Vegas Nevada a few years ago! They didn't know what they had. - Definitely a great score! Needless to say I POPPED THOSE TAGS PIRATE TREASURE STYLE!
Brass is good...HO Brass is easy to get...finding Quality O Scale Brass is harder...
finding the right prototypes gets even harder...in the right roadnames challenging...
scoring Santa Fe and in Warbonnet gets you into another game all together! (as the good people from America's City; New Yorkers say: Forget About it!!")
Hey...It's On!!!
Rick,
Fantastic looking train! Erik thanks for sharing photos and video.
Definitely agree with you on the challenges with O scale brass!
Thanks for sharing, Rick and Erik. Awesome.
p.s. Looks like the pics were taken during setup for a show? Which one?
Rick, I agree that these are definitely a great score! I found an old magazine ad from 1994 showing these on the rear cover. About 1995 I saw an A and B unit at a train show on an modular O scale layout and they were absolutely stunning! I remember them well because Overland was the only game in town in any scale if you wanted models of the current, at that time (1995), GP60m/b prototypes, and it was only my second time seeing O scale 2 rail.
I was modeling in HO scale at the time and if you didn't go the Overland brass route, you had to build these from Railpower shells with Athearn drives, Microscale decals, and a lot of patience!
I have an O scale version like yours and it is a nicely detailed and smooth runner. At 5lbs 2oz, it pulls very well and feels right at that weight.
Nice post Superpower!
Glad you got one as well...I know of a guy with an A-B-B-A he won't sell.
But that's really ok as it's Geep intermodal overkill for a guy like me modeling Colorado's coal hauling Joint Line, Still, beautiful models by OMI. Are you the guy (or do you know the guy?) with the YouTube O Scale OMI Super Fleet videos by any chance? I always enjoy watching that set of 2 videos. Those diesels look good and have been DCC'd with some early Tsunami HO DCC boards (I believe) - I'd like to know more - especially how he gets around possible shorts using the very low HO board Ohm ratings. It's one of the currently few, yet growing shared DCC Brass initiatives out there. I'm always looking for best practice in O Scale!
Hi Rick,
This might be the one of the video's you're referring to.

Ooops, I'm just seeing this thread for the first time. Not sure how I missed it the first time around.
That brass stuff looks awesome! Adding the PRB thrall 5-car stacker set would have been a cherry on top, for sure.
Great photos and interesting discussion, guys!
Thanks Superpower and Mike! Exactly! Great detective work and you put me in touch with John!! : )
Thanks John! Very informative and I'll take that info to the bank!
Seriously, I'll look into the setup you're running and I really like the idea of the PSX Series circuit breakers! Thanks for sharing...Id love to see some new videos from you!
Martin, Thanks for the nod...BTW I got as great deal on that 5 car stacker set!
Thanks,
Rick Trinkle
Rick,
While coal is the dominant traffic on the Joint Line, there is an occasional double stack train as well. Usually, one shipper.
